The Cotswolds isn’t one county — it spans six, from Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire through Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset — so we treat it as its own region rather than forcing it under whichever county happens to hold the most towns. What ties it together is the honey-coloured limestone and the market-town pattern: a High Street, a handful of proper old coaching inns with rooms, and usually a church tower visible from most of it.

It’s also one of the most tourist-dense parts of England, which cuts both ways for pubs with rooms — genuine demand and genuine quality, but also genuine pressure on parking, and a fair few places that have drifted from “pub with rooms” toward “boutique hotel with a bar.” We’ve tried to keep this list honest about which is which.
