Pub details last checked September 2026.

Burford earns “gateway to the Cotswolds” honestly — it’s the first proper Cotswold stone town travelling west from Oxford, and its high street drops steeply down The Hill to a medieval bridge over the River Windrush. The town is compact enough to see in an afternoon, which is exactly why its pubs get busy on any decent weekend.

All three of our Burford listings — the Lamb Inn, the Prince of Burford and the Angel — are genuine coaching inns with a working bar, not hotels that added one for the brochure. The Lamb Inn is the most decorated of the three, with two AA Rosettes; the Prince of Burford is the newest refurbishment; the Angel is the smallest, with just three rooms.

None of Burford’s pubs with rooms advertises its own parking, which is worth knowing before you drive in — the streets are steep and mostly on-street, with a public car park a short walk from the centre.

Questions people ask about Burford

Which pubs with rooms in Burford have parking?
We haven't confirmed on-site parking for any of the three — Burford's High Street and the Hill are steep and largely on-street, with a public car park off Guildenford. Worth checking directly with whichever pub you book, since this is exactly the kind of detail that changes without a website update.
What counts as a "pub with rooms" in Burford?
A bar you could walk into for a pint, with rooms attached — the Lamb Inn, the Prince of Burford and the Angel, all genuine coaching inns rather than hotels that added a bar. Burford has several other well-regarded hotels we've left off this list because the pub side of the operation isn't the headline.
Are Burford's pubs with rooms genuinely dog-friendly at dinner?
Mixed, and one is genuinely disputed. The Angel has conflicting reports — some sources describe a warm welcome with water bowls and treats, others say pets aren't allowed at all — so we've marked its dog policy unconfirmed rather than pick a side. The Lamb Inn and the Prince of Burford both offer designated dog-friendly bedrooms, but neither has a confirmed restaurant policy we could find.
