Chipping Campden’s High Street is routinely called the best-preserved in the Cotswolds — a long, gently curving run of honey-coloured stone buildings with barely a modern intrusion, ending at the Market Hall the town’s wool merchants built in 1627. It’s also the official start of the Cotswold Way, the 102-mile walk to Bath, so the pubs here see a steady trickle of people setting off with full packs as well as day visitors.

The Eight Bells, a 14th-century inn tucked just off the High Street, is the oldest of our three listings; the Red Lion is the one with its own parking, a genuine advantage in a town built long before cars. The Volunteer Inn is the outlier — an 18th-century coaching inn whose restaurant serves Indian food alongside English, and explicit that dogs aren’t allowed in its bedrooms, which we’d rather tell you plainly than gloss over.

Chipping Campden is small enough that “in town” barely needs qualifying — all three pubs are within a few minutes’ walk of the Market Hall.

Questions people ask about Chipping Campden

Which pubs with rooms in Chipping Campden have parking?
The Red Lion is the one to know about — it has free on-site parking, the only one of our three listings that does. The Eight Bells and the Volunteer Inn don't advertise their own, so expect to use one of the town's public car parks instead.
What counts as a "pub with rooms" in Chipping Campden?
A bar you could walk into for a pint, with rooms attached — the Eight Bells, the Red Lion and the Volunteer Inn, rather than the town's larger hotels like the Noel Arms or Cotswold House, which we've left off because the pub side isn't really the point of a stay there.
Are dogs allowed in the bedrooms at Chipping Campden's pubs with rooms?
Not everywhere, and one is explicit about it: the Volunteer Inn's own website says plainly "we do not allow pets in the bedrooms." The Red Lion is the opposite — dogs of any size, no additional fee. We haven't found the Eight Bells' policy confirmed either way.
