Pubs with Rooms in Grassington
A cobbled Dales village on the River Wharfe, and the unofficial capital of Wharfedale.
Grassington is Wharfedale’s obvious base — a cobbled square, a genuine National Park Centre, and three working pubs within a couple of minutes’ walk of each other on Main Street. It’s also the last proper town before the dale opens out into the wilder country around Kilnsey and Kettlewell, so it fills up fast on a good walking weekend.
All three of its pubs with rooms — the Black Horse Hotel, the Devonshire, and the Foresters Arms — are genuine working pubs first, not hotels with a bar attached, and all three take dogs in some form. Where they differ is in the detail: whether that’s a blanket welcome or specific rooms, and whether your dog can join you at the table for dinner or just in the bar.
There’s no station in the village itself — Grassington lost its passenger line in 1930 — so most visitors arrive by car via Skipton, about 9 miles south, or by the seasonal Dalesbus service.
