Malham is a small village doing an outsized job — Malham Cove, the vast curved limestone cliff a short walk up the beck, draws day visitors by the coachload, and the village absorbs most of them without losing its working-pub character. It’s also a stop on the Pennine Way, so through-walkers and day-trippers share the same two bars most afternoons.
The Lister Arms and the Buck Inn both sit right in the village centre, a few doors from each other — proper stone-built pubs with rooms above rather than anything built for the tourist trade. A mile and a half away in Kirkby Malham, the Victoria Inn is the quieter option: same dale, same limestone country, considerably fewer day-trippers.
