Kettlewell is the village where Wharfedale starts to feel properly remote. It sits at the foot of Great Whernside, where the road forks towards Coverdale and Wensleydale, and it’s a favourite stop on the Dales Way. The Racehorses Hotel faces the stone bridge over Kettlewell Beck, and the other two pubs are a couple of minutes up the village streets.
There are three pubs with rooms: the Racehorses Hotel, a former coaching inn with 13 en-suite bedrooms; the Blue Bell Inn, the village’s oldest hostelry with 6; and the Kings Head on The Green, with 4 and a shorter week. The Blue Bell is run by the chef who previously ran the Kings Head, which is why it’s easy to mix the two up. They’re different pubs with different owners.
What they have in common is walking: boots-on-the-doorstep access to the dale. What they don’t share is a dog policy, so check the detail on each pub before booking if you’re travelling with one. Kettlewell is a driving destination, with Skipton about 15 miles south and the seasonal Dalesbus the main public-transport option.

- The Racehorses Hotel says on its own website that on-site parking is included for guests, and the Blue Bell's Booking.com listing shows free on-site parking (marked as needing a reservation). We haven't found parking confirmed for the Kings Head on The Green, so ask when you book.
- What counts as a "pub with rooms" in Kettlewell?
- A bar you could walk into for a pint, with rooms attached. That gives us the Racehorses Hotel with 13 rooms, the Blue Bell Inn with 6, and the Kings Head with 4. One quirk worth knowing — the Kings Head is shut on Mondays and Tuesdays and its website says it doesn't offer accommodation on those nights.

- The Blue Bell is the clearest: dog-friendly rooms at £15 per dog per night, stated on its own website. The Racehorses takes pets on request with extra charges (no amount published) and, per CAMRA's last survey, allows dogs in both bars but not the dining room. The Kings Head's own website doesn't mention dogs, and CAMRA only lists it as dog friendly, so we've left its bedroom and dining policy as unknown.
