Blakeney sits on a tidal creek on the North Norfolk coast, with a quay at the end of the High Street and salt marshes stretching out beyond it. It is one of the better-served pub-with-rooms bases on this coast: four pubs, all within a couple of miles of one another, and all with bedrooms.

The White Horse on the High Street is a former coaching inn with nine en-suite rooms, a conservatory and courtyard, and a clear dog policy — dogs are welcome in the bedrooms, the bar and the restaurant, and the pub publishes its own dog-walk route. The Kings Arms on Westgate Street is a plainer, no-fuss pub with food served all day and a short list of dog-friendly rooms. The Wiveton Bell, about a mile and a half inland on its village green, has six boutique rooms and a dog menu. At Cley, the George & Dragon looks over the marshes with ten rooms and a kitchen that opens every day.

Two things to plan around: neither the White Horse nor the Wiveton Bell lists lunch or dinner service on Mondays and Tuesdays, so check the day before you set out hungry. And the quayside car park floods on the tide, so don’t leave a car there overnight without checking.

Questions people ask about Blakeney

Which pubs with rooms in Blakeney have parking?
The White Horse has a small car park at the front with limited spaces, and the Wiveton Bell has a few spaces plus a free long-stay car park a minute's walk away. We haven't confirmed parking for the Kings Arms or the George & Dragon at Cley. The quayside car park in Blakeney is tidal, so check tide times before leaving a car there.
What counts as a "pub with rooms" in Blakeney?
A bar you could walk into for a pint, with bedrooms attached. The White Horse and Kings Arms are both in Blakeney, the Wiveton Bell is a village-green pub about a mile and a half away and the George & Dragon is a marshland pub at Cley. We've left out the larger quayside hotels, which are hotels rather than pubs.
Is Blakeney dog-friendly for a pub stay?
Very, at the White Horse and Wiveton Bell: both welcome dogs in all areas of the pub, and dogs can stay in the White Horse's rooms and all but one of the Wiveton Bell's, which charges £25. The Kings Arms takes dogs in two named bedrooms only, and the George & Dragon says dogs are welcome throughout the pub but doesn't confirm the rooms.
