Romantic Pubs with Rooms for Valentine's Day 2027
Not "cosy" or "charming" — the pubs with a roll-top bath, a four-poster, a private sauna or a real Valentine's offer, and what we couldn't confirm.
Last reviewed October 2026.
“Romantic” is the most abused word in pub-and-hotel marketing — usually it means “old building, quite cosy.” So rather than rank pubs by how they sound, we went through our pubs with rooms and looked for things you can actually check: a roll-top or freestanding bath, a four-poster, a private sauna or hot tub, a restaurant worth dressing up for, or an offer the pub itself has put its name to. Where we couldn’t confirm something, we’ve said so.
The honest headline: when we looked in October 2026, none of the pubs we checked had published a Valentine’s package for 2027. Two have a track record — the Lamb Inn at Burford ran a Valentine’s Escape this year, and the Lister Arms at Malham has a Valentine’s weekend page with no year on it — and several others offer a “treat for two” package at other times of year. So the useful advice is to treat Valentine’s as a date to ask about, not an offer to find.
A few things worth knowing before you book. Valentine’s Day 2027 falls on a Sunday, so the demand is on Saturday 13 February, and several pubs here only sell Friday and Saturday nights with a two-night minimum, at their highest rates. The most distinctive rooms — a roll-top bath in the bedroom, a private hot tub — are typically one or two per pub, and they go first. And if you’re bringing a dog, check before you fall for a room: the White Swan’s Hideaway Treat and the Ashford Arms’ bedrooms are not dog-friendly.

This isn’t a “best of” ranking, and it isn’t exhaustive — a pub we haven’t covered, or one whose website says little, won’t appear here. Pubs on this list are the ones where we found specific, checkable features, spread across the regions we cover. Ring ahead for anything that actually matters.
The strongest cases

The only pub here with private saunas and hot tubs built into the rooms. The Original Spa Room (from £200 a night) has a private sauna and a dual-bathing bathtub; the Spa Suite adds a private steam room (from £275); and three top-end rooms have a private hot tub as well (£360–£450). The pub's "Best of Pigs" break, from £300 a couple, adds a 45-minute couple's spa treatment, fizz in the room and a late brunch — but it's Sunday to Thursday only, so no Saturday 13 February, and it isn't a Valentine's offer as such. We couldn't confirm a minimum stay or in-room fires.

One Michelin star, and the bedrooms back it up: two first-floor super king rooms (Barns 3 and 4, £240 B&B for two on a midweek multi-night stay) have roll-top baths in the bedroom, Room One has a freestanding bath at the end of the bed, and Room Nine has a fire. The cheapest room (Room Four) is £160 for two, B&B, two or more nights Sunday to Thursday; a single midweek night is £30 more, Friday is £280 and Saturday £300. The kitchen is closed on Mondays. We found no Valentine's package — only a midweek dinner, bed and breakfast break at £315 for two, running to the end of February.

Four "Great Rooms" with super king beds and feature roll-top baths, and a fifth with a large freestanding bath in the bedroom, plus a two-AA-Rosette restaurant on the premises. The pub doesn't publish room prices, and there's no Valentine's offer — only an "Eat. Sleep. Cotswolds" two-night B&B-plus-dinner package with no price shown. We couldn't confirm a four-poster, in-room fires or a minimum stay.

Two genuine four-poster rooms: the Master's, with a handmade four-poster, and the Den, with a four-poster, a private terrace over the walled garden and a full-size bath in the bedroom itself. The bar has a fire, and the pub says dogs are allowed throughout it, though we haven't confirmed whether they can stay in the bedrooms. No room prices are published and there's no Valentine's offer — the winter break advertised is a cottage stay, not the pub's own rooms. The kitchen's days are inconsistent on the pub's own site, so check before booking dinner.

The only Norfolk coast pub with an explicit "Romantic Stay" package: one night with dinner for two (a £30-a-head food allowance), Prosecco, breakfast and late checkout — though the page is undated and shows no price, so ask whether it's running for 14 February. The Garden Room has a freestanding bath and a private patio. Payment in full is due 48 hours before arrival. We couldn't confirm in-room fires.

The one pub in our research whose own site has a Valentine's page: a two-night weekend with a bedroom, a three-course set menu on Valentine's evening and a full English breakfast, or a one-night version with the set menu. The page shows no year or price, so treat it as last year's until the pub confirms 2027. The pub's own site says direct booking is the way to get its best rates. A freestanding bath is mentioned in a room photo caption; we couldn't confirm bar fires or a minimum stay.
Also worth a look — real features, thinner evidence
A two-AA-Rosette kitchen with a £70-a-head tasting menu (wine flight £30 extra), and the pub says every room can use its hot tub for a small extra fee. It doesn't say whether the tub is private to a room, what the fee is, or what the rooms cost, and we couldn't find a Valentine's offer.
Three rooms facing the Byland Abbey ruins or the woodland behind, with roll-top baths, a bar fire and a £50-a-head three-course set menu developed by Tommy Banks. A review mentions a four-poster in one room, but the pub's own page doesn't, so we haven't counted it. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays; no standard room price published.
The "Hideaway Treat" room has an antique French super king bed, a large freestanding roll-top bath in the downstairs lounge and a Juliet balcony — but it isn't pet-friendly, and none of the pub's rooms or offers show a price. There's also a Four Poster Room, though its own page describes only a king or super king bed and a bath with an overhead shower. No Valentine's package found.
The Devonshire Suite has a super king bed and a freestanding bath in the bedroom, and the pub itself calls its rooms best suited to couples or solo travellers. They're cosy in size, with some noise possible from the bar below, and dogs aren't allowed in the bedrooms. A two-night winter offer includes a £35-a-head dinner allowance on one evening, but there's no price and no Valentine's version.
Log fires lit in cooler weather, a walled garden, and two rooms with something to show: the Shepherd Room's four-poster and fireplace, and the Allium Room's feature bath and fireplace. A "Valentine's Escape" ran in February 2026 (Saturdays possibly needing a two-night stay), but its page now returns an error and we couldn't see the price or what was included — so ask whether it returns for 2027.
Three four-poster rooms from £120 a night in a converted stable building with exposed beams and stonework. Overnight parking isn't guaranteed (£1 off-site, 6pm to 8am) and the food is traditional pub food rather than destination dining. We couldn't confirm a bar fire or which room has the freestanding bath a guest review mentions.
Three Superior Sea View rooms have private balconies, one with a four-poster, and the garden bar has sea views. The "Wine, Dine and Stay" break, from £438 for two nights, includes a sea-view dinner, a bottle of house wine and breakfast; it's undated and not Valentine's-specific. No bath or fireplace is mentioned, which makes this the thinnest case on the list.
Rooms designed by Robert Kime, with antiques and Alexandrian marble bathrooms, over Gunton Park — and venison and beef cooked over the open fire in the Elk Room (not on Sundays). Rooms run from £160 Sunday to Thursday to £380 for the Barn House Suite on Fridays and Saturdays, with a two-night minimum on Fridays and Saturdays, so Valentine's weekend is the expensive end. We couldn't confirm in-room fires, four-posters or baths.
Shelley's Cottage is a suite with a double bedroom, a sitting room and a private garden, which the pub says is reputed to be a honeymoon cottage, and its seaview rooms are described as suited to special occasions. A cottage supplement of around £50 a night is reported by third-party travel sites, not the pub; we couldn't confirm a four-poster, fires, prices or any offers.
Questions people ask
What makes a pub with rooms romantic?
Rather than rely on words like "cosy", we look for features you can check: a roll-top or freestanding bath in the bedroom, a four-poster, a private sauna or hot tub, a restaurant worth dressing up for, and an offer the pub itself publishes. The pubs on this page each have at least one, and we say where we couldn't confirm the rest.
Which pubs with rooms have a private hot tub or sauna?
The Pigs at Edgefield in Norfolk is the clearest case: its Original Spa Room has a private sauna, the Spa Suite adds a private steam room, and three top-end rooms also have a private hot tub. The Kings Arms at Fleggburgh says every room can use its hot tub for a small extra fee, but doesn't say the tub is private to a room.
Which pubs with rooms have four-poster beds?
The Fox at Oddington has two four-poster rooms, the Lamb Inn at Burford has one (the Shepherd Room), the Peacock at Bakewell lists three four-poster rooms, and Hotel Victoria at Robin Hood's Bay has one sea-view room with a four-poster and a private balcony.
Which pubs with rooms have a roll-top or freestanding bath in the bedroom?
The Star Inn at Harome, the Old Stocks Inn at Stow-on-the-Wold, the Fox at Oddington (the Den), the Wiveton Bell (the Garden Room), the Abbey Inn at Byland, the White Swan at Pickering (the Hideaway Treat) and the Ashford Arms (the Devonshire Suite) all list one on their own sites. The Lamb Inn's Allium Room has a feature bath, and the Pigs' Original Spa Room has a dual-bathing bathtub.
Do pubs with rooms offer Valentine's packages?
Some do, but none of the pubs we checked had published a 2027 Valentine's offer in October 2026. The Lamb Inn at Burford ran a Valentine's Escape in February 2026, the Lister Arms at Malham has a Valentine's weekend page with no year on it, and the Wiveton Bell has a standing Romantic Stay package. Ask each pub directly whether its offer is returning.
When is Valentine's Day 2027, and when should I book?
Valentine's Day 2027 is Sunday 14 February, so the busiest night is Saturday 13 February. Some pubs only sell Friday and Saturday nights as a two-night stay at their highest rates, the Gunton Arms among them, and the standout rooms are one or two per pub, so booking early is the safe choice.
Can I take a dog on a romantic pub break?
Yes at several. We record dogs as welcome in the bedrooms at the Lister Arms and Hotel Victoria, and in selected rooms at the Pigs, Star Inn, Old Stocks Inn, Wiveton Bell, White Swan, Lamb Inn and Gunton Arms. The Abbey Inn and the Ashford Arms don't take dogs in the bedrooms, and the White Swan's Hideaway Treat is not pet friendly.
