How dog-friendly are pubs with rooms, really?
Across the 217 pubs with rooms we've checked, just 12% are confirmed to let your dog join you at dinner in the restaurant, unrestricted. Another 13% allow it in certain areas only. The rest either say no outright, or — most commonly — simply haven't said either way.
"Dog friendly" is the single most overused, least specific claim in UK hospitality marketing. These are the actual numbers behind it, computed live from our own dataset — not rounded for effect, and updated every time we check another pub.
These figures move as we research. For a fixed edition to quote or cite, with method and downloadable data, see the 2026 report.

Food and money
- 134 of 217 pubs (62%) have confirmed which days the kitchen is actually open — the rest, the days aren't confirmed either way, which matters more than most listings admit given how often rural kitchens close midweek.
- Where a weekly closure day is confirmed at all (21 pubs), Mon is the single most common day to find the kitchen shut.
- 18 of 217 pubs (8%) hold a Michelin star, Bib Gourmand, AA Rosette or Good Food Guide entry — see the full list →.
- Of the pubs that charge for a dog to stay, 61 confirm a charge and 5 confirm there's no charge at all — see which ones →.
How this page works
Every number above is computed directly from the same per-pub records that power the rest of the site — not a one-off survey, and not rounded for a cleaner headline. As we research more pubs and confirm more fields, these percentages will move, usually toward more "Yes" and "No" and less "Not confirmed" rather than the other way round.
