Pubs with Rooms Near Edinburgh Airport

Village pubs with rooms at Ratho, South Queensferry and Balerno, a short drive from Edinburgh Airport, with dog policy and distances checked.

Last reviewed November 2026.

Edinburgh Airport is on the west side of the city, and three village pubs with rooms are closer to it than the Old Town is. They suit an early flight or a late arrival, or a first night in Scotland that isn’t spent in the city centre.

Distances are straight-line map estimates from the terminal, not driving distances, and we haven’t visited. None of them advertises an airport shuttle. Only the Bridge Inn mentions longer parking, by prior arrangement, so check parking with the pub before you book.

Or stay in the city

Royal Mile. About 7 miles from the airport, with nine rooms above a pub and kitchen. No pets in the hotel. Not a short drive, but the airport trams and buses run into the city centre.

Questions people ask

Which pub with rooms is closest to Edinburgh Airport?

The Bridge Inn at Ratho is about 1.9 miles from the airport in a straight line, and says it is about 10 minutes away by car or taxi. The Hawes Inn at South Queensferry is about 2.8 miles and the Balerno Inn about 4.8. These are map estimates, so allow longer by road. The Inn on the Mile on the Royal Mile is about 7 miles away.

Which of these pubs allow dogs?

The Bridge Inn at Ratho takes dogs in the venue and garden, and in two bedrooms, Burke and Baird, for £25 per dog per stay, according to its own website. The Hawes Inn says dogs can stay for £15 a night and welcomes them in the bar area. The Balerno Inn welcomes dogs in its bar dining area and garden, but its bedrooms and restaurant dining room are pet-free. The Inn on the Mile's terms say its hotel doesn't accept pets, apart from assistance dogs.

Do these pubs offer an airport transfer?

We haven't found any of them advertising a shuttle. The Bridge Inn says it is 10 minutes from the airport by car or taxi, and offers free parking during your stay, extended parking by prior arrangement, breakfast from 7am for residents and late check-in if you tell them your flight time. The Hawes Inn lists free on-site parking. The Balerno Inn has no dedicated guest car park, though it says there is free parking and two public car parks nearby. Edinburgh Trams and the Airlink bus connect the airport and the city centre, so the Inn on the Mile is the easiest to reach without a car.
