Pubs with Rooms Near the Aviva Stadium and Croke Park
Three Dublin pubs with rooms about a mile from the Aviva Stadium and Croke Park, for rugby and Gaelic games weekends.
Last reviewed November 2026.
The Aviva Stadium, the home of Irish rugby and football, and Croke Park, the home of Gaelic games, are on opposite sides of the city, and the three pubs with rooms that we list sit roughly a mile from each. They’re a reasonable base for either, though none is on the doorstep.
Distances are straight-line map estimates, not walking times, and we haven’t visited. We don’t hold fixtures, dates or prices, so check those separately. O’Neills allows no pets in its rooms; the other two don’t state a dog policy. These are working bars with rooms above, so ask for a room away from the bar.

Questions people ask
How far are these pubs from the Aviva Stadium?
The Lombard Townhouse is about 1 mile from the Aviva Stadium in a straight line, O'Donoghue's about 1.1 and O'Neills about 1.2. These are map estimates, not walking times. Lansdowne Road station, beside the stadium, is on the DART, which also serves Pearse station near the two Pearse Street pubs.
How far are they from Croke Park?
O'Neills is about 1.1 miles from Croke Park, the Lombard about 1.2 and O'Donoghue's about 1.6, all in a straight line.
Do I need to book early for a match weekend?
Almost certainly. These are small places, with eight rooms at the Lombard and O'Neills, so rooms are likely to go quickly for big fixtures. We hold no live availability, so check the booking page for your dates.
Which of these pubs is open on match days?
O'Donoghue's says it is a favourite meeting place on rugby weekends, and the Lombard's bar opens from 9.30am on Fridays and Saturdays and 10.30am on Sundays, per its own site. O'Neills shows its pub as closed on Sundays and Mondays, and gives check-in hours of 2pm to 10pm Wednesday to Sunday, so ask about a Sunday fixture before you book.
