A bit of history
Occupies a former pub on the corner of Brick Lane and Osborn Street, previously called the Archers; the Survey of London's pub listing dates the building to 1903, though it has also been described as Victorian. It was extended with two extra floors and a rooftop terrace when it reopened as a bar and hotel in 2019.

Stories & legends
- On record: The pub is named after Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton (1786-1845), who joined the Truman brewery on Brick Lane as a partner in 1811 and later led the parliamentary campaign against slavery after Wilberforce retired. The brewery, a few minutes' walk away, became one of the biggest in the world in the 19th century. The name is a modern tribute: the building was the Archers before it became the Buxton.
