A bit of history
A corner pub 'pulling pints since 1844', named after Pelton Colliery in County Durham, with three original open fireplaces; it stood in for the Nag's Head in Rock & Chips, the Only Fools and Horses prequel.

Stories & legends
- On record: The road and the pub are named after Pelton Colliery near Chester-le-Street in County Durham, which opened in 1835. The story is that the terrace was built by a Durham coal merchant for his workers, and that coal came by sea from the north of England to be unloaded on this stretch of the Thames. Source: The pub's own website (peltonarms.com) and the Thames Path guide (thamespath.org.uk); the coal-merchant detail is from a Pelton Road property listing
- Local legend: A 2016 trade article on the pub being put up for sale says it was the local watering hole when the film 'The List of Adrian Messenger' was shot in the 1960s, with Tony Curtis, Frank Sinatra and Kirk Douglas said to have drunk there. We found no record beyond that retelling, so enjoy it as a story. Source: Morning Advertiser, 'Award-winning Greenwich pub comes on the market' (21 July 2016)
