A bit of history
Pub-history records show a beershop keeper, John Cordery, on Camp Road in the 1861 and 1871 censuses, and a licensee called James Clark there by 1881. CAMRA removed it from its London Regional Inventory of historic pub interiors in 2014 after a renovation.

Stories & legends
- On record: AFC Wimbledon's story begins here. In May 2002, after the Football Association approved the original Wimbledon club's move to Milton Keynes, supporters including Kris Stewart, Marc Jones and Trevor Williams met in the Fox & Grapes to plan their next step, and concluded the only option was to start a new club from scratch. The new club was formed that month. Source: Press Association history of AFC Wimbledon (via Express & Star, 2019); Wikipedia, AFC Wimbledon
- Local legend: Pub-history sites say the Wimbledon players drank here the night before they beat Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup final. We could not confirm it: the account of that night we found has the team staying at the Cannizaro House hotel nearby.
